Database Architect

West Monroe Partners, a business and technology consulting organization, has an immediate opening for a Database Architect specializing in Microsoft SQL Server. As a Database Architect, you will report directly to the Director of Information Technology and you will design, develop, and maintain the databases, data warehouses, and reporting environments supporting West Monroe Partners’ core business and knowledge management systems. As such, you will be responsible for all aspects of West Monroe Partners’ database environment including:

• Data warehousing
• Database design and architecture
• Data modeling and analysis
• Multi-dimensional cube design and development
• Report design and development
• Database development (stored procedures, transactions, triggers, views, etc.)
• Query development and tuning

West Monroe Partners is looking for a database professional that is a go-getter with the following qualities:

• Experience managing complex database environments containing data warehouses and OLTP using Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience in data modeling and data analysis.
• Experience working with business owners to develop new business views of data.
• Strong reporting skills and experience managing, architecting, and developing in a reporting environment.
• Up to date, in-depth knowledge of the SQL Server platform and all associated tools.
• Ability to articulate complex ideas to technical and non technical personnel.
• Ability to understand the methodologies and technologies that depict the flow of data within and between technology systems and business functions/operations.
• Ability to translate logical data structures to physical database objects.
• Ability to understand existing applications by analyzing their data models, and an ability to understand the business functionality and purpose of an application.

Other Requirements:
• At least three years of professional database development experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008, preferably in a consulting environment.
• Experience designing databases, data warehouses, reporting, reviewing data structures, working with end-users to gather requirements, and designing scalable database products.
• Understanding of the relationship between databases and different interfaces is also important.
• Knowledge of and determination to take on the entire project cycle, especially working as part of a team.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
• BS / Computer Science, MIS or equivalent degree required.
• Microsoft SQL Server certification a plus.
